Drive to the Lake Arrowhead shooting range which is about 4 miles outside of Lake Arrowhead, CA, NW on HWY 173.
hiking route:
The trail (3W16) starts right next to the Arrowhead shooting range; at many places it is hard to follow. As a rough memory it seems like you want to stay to the right most of the time when the trails diverge. You will be hittin' the pinnacles kind of from the mountain side rather that the desert side.
details:
I've taken this hike 3 times and I still have trouble following the trail. It's a good view of the desert (Hesperia) and it's kind of fun because there are a few rocks that you have to pull yourself over. Pretty hot.

Some large rocks near the Pinnacles, the tall rock is maybe 40ft high or so.
A US Coast and Geodetic Survey marker on the top of the Pinnacles. The sign-in can is usually somewhere near this marker. There is this cool area under the rocks on the top of the Pinnacles that has nothing to do with this picture's description.
