My trip to coastal Northern California & Brookings, Oregon & Coos Bay, Oregon & Shore Acres State Park & the Doerner Fir & Oakridge, Oregon & Mt. Shasta & Sequoia National Park.
Taken August 8, 1998, I pasted two pictures together to make this. Sequoia National Park.
August 2, 1998; this is in Northern CA between Eureka and Crescent City on US 101. That is a huge coastal redwood behind the sign.
August 2, 1998; a few miles north of Ft. Bragg, CA off Hwy 1.
August 3, 1998; that's me on the shore at Brookings, Oregon.
August 3, 1998; on the coast at Brookings, Oregon. The temp is great here!
August 3, 1998; another coastal shot at Brookings, Oregon.
August 3, 1998; that's me with the white had on the coast at Brookings, Oregon.
August 3, 1998; this pic was taken in Shore Acres State Park near Coos Bay, Oregon. This place was like some sort of fantasy land.
August 3, 1998; another pic at Shore Acres State Park near Coos Bay, Oregon.
August 3, 1998; back at Shore Acres State Park near Coos Bay, Oregon. I am standing in front of the Oregon's largest Monterey Pine Tree.
August 4, 1998; the Doerner fir again, it was a long drive to find this tree and a 1/2 mile walk to get to it and I was wishing it would never end.
August 5, 1998; this picture shows the mountains of Oakridge, Oregon. The cars in the foreground are parked at the Best Western Oakridge Inn. The Cafe directly across the street served the biggest pancakes I've ever had and the waitress there was a real cutie.
August 5, 1998; Crater Lake - it's a very beautiful, very blue lake, but we couldn't get anywhere near the water, but it's probably good that way.
August 7, 1998; this is Mount Shasta; someday I will climb it.
August 8, 1998; this is the sign for the General Sherman tree at Sequoia National Park.
August 8, 1998; there it is, the General Sherman tree. You can't grasp how big these trees are until you stand right near them.
August 8, 1998; there I am standing in front of the General Sherman tree in Sequoia National Park. Although this tree is a lot bigger, I think the Doerner Fir was more impressive, because of its beauty and the beauty of the surrounding area - hardly any tourists visit this tree and that has helped to preserve the forest a lot better than at Sequoia National Park.
August 8, 1998; here's some more Giant Sequoias near the General Sherman Tree.
August 8, 1998; another pic from Sequoia National Park. They call this the 4 guardsmen.
August 8, 1998; three giant sequoias next to each other in Sequoia National Park.
